Mickey Rourke Opens Up About His Struggles with Insomnia and Emotional Behaviour on Celebrity Big Brother
Celebrity Big Brother star Mickey Rourke has spoken out about his struggles with insomnia and emotional behaviour on the show. The 72-year-old actor, who has been paid a six-figure sum to take part in this year’s Celeb Big Brother, has been causing concern among his housemates with his unusual behaviour.
According to The Sun, Mickey has been sleeping excessively during the day and has been formally warned by show bosses for making a ‘homophobic slur’ towards 21-year-old housemate JoJo Siwa. He has also been reprimanded for ‘weight-shaming’ housemate Donna Preston and tampering with the cameras and removing his mic. In an emotional conversation with his housemates, Mickey revealed that he suffers from insomnia and can’t sleep at night due to “fear” sparked from an abusive childhood. As The Sun reports, Mickey stated: “I have insomnia. I can stay awake from anywhere to one to four days.”
Mickey’s housemates were surprised by his confession, with Jack P. Shepherd joking: “This is you with insomnia? All you’ve done is sleep.” However, Mickey explained that he would “pay millions of dollars” to be able to sleep properly at night. When asked what causes his insomnia, Mickey hesitated before replying: “Fear.” He went on to explain that his childhood experiences, including abuse, have left him with emotional scars. As The Sun notes, Mickey revealed: “My childhood… The fear of not being able to fix things before I go. When I was 14, after all the abuse I went through, I put my finger on the hard button because I didn’t want to live in shame.”
Mickey also opened up about his struggles with relationships, admitting that he has “self-isolated” over the past six years. He stated: “I haven’t been around people in six years. I’ve been self-isolated. Ever since I’ve been 30, I’ve had a girlfriend every four years. I chose all wrong.” As reported by The Sun, Mickey’s emotional conversation with his housemates has sparked a wave of support, with Danny Beard offering to give him a hug.
The incident has raised concerns about Mickey’s well-being and his ability to cope with the pressures of the show.
