Missing Children: Grandma Speaks Out on 4, 6-Year-Old’s Disappearance

Missing Children in Nova Scotia: Family Holds on to Hope as Search Continues

The search for two young children missing from their home in rural northeastern Nova Scotia entered its fifth day on Tuesday, with their maternal grandmother, Cyndy Murray, expressing her hopes for their safe return. In an interview with CBC News, Murray said she is holding on to hope that her grandchildren, six-year-old Lily Sullivan and four-year-old Jack Sullivan, will be found safe and sound.

"We’re just hoping and praying for the best — that’s it — for our babies to come home," Murray said, adding that police have advised the family against speaking with the public. According to CBC News, the children’s mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray, is Lily and Jack’s mother.

The children were last seen on Friday morning at their family home on Gairloch Road in the community of Lansdowne Station, about 20 kilometres southwest of New Glasgow. Police have been conducting a thorough search of the area, with ground teams meticulously searching several kilometres of a heavily wooded area around the home. According to CBC News, up to 140 people at a time have been searching for the children, with the help of police dogs and drones.

The children’s stepfather, Daniel Martell, has expressed concerns that they may have been abducted, but police say there is no evidence to support this theory. As CBC News reported, investigators are acting under the belief that both kids wandered away from their home. Martell also stated that after the disappearance, the children’s mother left to be with her family in another part of the province and has blocked him on social media.

The RCMP have provided descriptions of the children, with Lily Sullivan described as having shoulder-length, light brown hair with bangs, and possibly wearing a pink sweater, pink pants, and pink boots. Jack Sullivan is described as having short, blond hair and wearing blue dinosaur boots. As the search continues, the family and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The search efforts have been extensive, with police and volunteers scouring the area for any sign of the children. According to CBC News, the search has stretched into its fifth day, with crews working tirelessly to find any lead. As Murray said, "We’re just hoping and praying for the best — that’s it — for our babies to come home." The CBC will continue to provide updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.

In a statement to CBC News, the RCMP said they are working closely with the family and other agencies to locate the children. The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to contact them immediately. The community has rallied around the family, with many offering support and assistance in the search efforts. As the search continues, the family remains hopeful that Lily and Jack will be found safe and sound.

The RCMP are asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Lily and Jack Sullivan to contact them at [insert phone number or email].
