MLB Power Rankings: May 25, 2025 – League Leaders Take Top Spots

MLB Power Rankings for Week of May 25, 2025

The latest MLB power rankings have been released, and the Philadelphia Phillies have taken the top spot. According to MLB.com, the Phillies have surged to the top of the rankings after an impressive nine-game win streak, which has catapulted them to the top of the National League East.

The Phillies have been on fire lately, with Kyle Schwarber tied for the MLB lead in homers. Their starting pitching has also been dominant, with an ERA under 2.00 during their win streak. As MLB.com notes, it’s one thing to face lesser teams, but it’s another to beat every one of them.

The Dodgers have dropped to second place, but they have some positive news on the horizon. MLB.com reports that Shohei Ohtani faced live hitters off a mound on Sunday and remains on schedule to make his pitching debut after the All-Star break.

The Tigers have moved up to third place, thanks in part to an outstanding performance by Tarik Skubal, who pitched a complete game shutout on Sunday, striking out 13 batters. This performance has earned him a Maddux, and MLB.com notes that the 13 strikeouts are the most ever recorded in a Maddux.

The Yankees have moved up to fourth place, thanks in part to the performances of their starting pitchers, including Max Fried, who has a 5-0 record and a 0.66 ERA in games following a Yankees loss. As MLB.com notes, Fried has become known as a stopper, and his performances have been crucial to the Yankees’ success.

The Cubs have moved up to fifth place, thanks in part to the impressive performances of Pete Crow-Armstrong, who is on pace for 44 homers, 143 RBIs, 44 stolen bases, and 10.0 WAR. According to MLB.com, Crow-Armstrong’s stats are impressive, and he is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

The Mets have dropped to sixth place, but they have received a boost from Juan Soto, who had a huge hit against the Dodgers on Saturday. As MLB.com quotes manager Carlos Mendoza, “I know how he handles adversity… He is too good.”

The Giants have moved up to seventh place, thanks in part to the performances of Kyle Harrison, who filled in admirably for Justin Verlander in his first start. According to MLB.com, Harrison will likely get another chance to start when Verlander returns from injury.

The Mariners have moved up to eighth place, thanks in part to the impressive performances of Cal Raleigh, who is fourth in the Majors in homers and is playing Gold Glove-caliber defense behind the plate. As MLB.com notes, Raleigh is making a strong case for himself as an MVP contender.

The Padres have dropped to ninth place, but they have been boosted by the performances of their ace, Michael King, who was scratched from his start on Saturday due to right shoulder stiffness. According to MLB.com, King has been placed on the injured list, which could be a significant blow to the Padres.

The Twins have rounded out the top 10, thanks in part to their 13-game winning streak, which came to an end recently. However, as MLB.com notes, the Twins have continued to win despite injuries to key players, including Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton.

The rest of the rankings are as follows:
