Pregnant Georgia Harrison Mum Shamed for Hair Dye and Ibiza Trip
A recent social media post by pregnant reality star Georgia Harrison has sparked controversy, with some fans criticising her for getting her hair dyed and planning a trip to Ibiza while expecting her first child. The 30-year-old, who first rose to fame on Love Island in 2017, announced her pregnancy in April and has been open about her journey on social media.
According to an article by The Sun, Georgia shared a video on Instagram of herself having her blonde locks dyed, captioned: “Warning: this colour may cause spontaneous compliments. Had lots of fun already going lighter for summer. Ready for Ibiza this weekend … am I mad going pregnant?”
However, some fans took issue with her decision, mum shaming her for getting her hair dyed while pregnant and planning a trip to Ibiza. One fan wrote: “Ibiza is defo not a place to go while carrying a child it’s full of intoxicated people, also bleach in your hair isn’t recommended while being pregnant.” Another commented: “How times have changed. I got told not to dye my hair while I was pregnant. That was 10 years ago though.”
The debate sparked a discussion about the safety of hair dye during pregnancy. According to The Sun, the NHS website states that most research suggests it is safe to colour your hair while pregnant, although some studies have raised concerns about high doses of chemicals in hair dyes.
Georgia, who is 16 weeks and five days pregnant, is expecting her first child with boyfriend Jack Stacey. The couple met on a dating app last year, months after she left the All Stars villa. In an interview with OK! Magazine, Georgia opened up about meeting Jack and falling pregnant, saying: “If you don’t go to the interview, you’re not going to get the job, are you? I was thinking, ‘I’m nearly 30, I really want to make an effort to meet someone’. But I was quite pessimistic about love in general.”
Georgia’s due date is expected to be on or around December 31. She has also been sharing her baby shower plans with fans, revealing that she wanted a goth or Tiger King theme but her friends and family have vetoed the ideas.
The mum-to-be has been enjoying her pregnancy journey, sharing updates and photos on social media. Despite some fans criticising her for her hair dye and Ibiza trip, many have also been supportive and congratulatory.
The incident highlights the often unrealistic expectations placed on pregnant women and the scrutiny they face on social media. As The Sun reported, Georgia’s experience is not unique, with many women facing criticism and judgement during pregnancy.
