NBA Playoffs: Conference Semifinals Heating Up

The National Basketball Association (NBA) postseason has reached the conference semifinals, with several teams vying for a spot in the NBA Finals. According to FOX Sports, the Boston Celtics are looking to defend their title, while the Cleveland Cavaliers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Minnesota Timberwolves are among the teams hoping to make a deep run.

In the Eastern Conference, the top-seeded Cavaliers are facing a tough challenge against the fourth-seeded Indiana Pacers. As of May 12, the Pacers were leading the series 3-1, with FOX Sports reporting that the Pacers were favored to win the series at -330, while the Cavaliers were at +265. The Cavaliers were dealt a significant blow in Game 4, as star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell missed the second half due to an ankle injury. The Pacers dominated the game, taking an 80-39 lead at halftime.

The Celtics, meanwhile, are facing the third-seeded New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals. As FOX Sports notes, the Knicks are leading the series 2-1, but the Celtics are favored to win the series at -300, while the Knicks are at +245. In Game 3, the Celtics took control and never looked back, with Jayson Tatum leading the team to a 115-93 win over the Knicks. Tatum had a stellar game, scoring 22 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and dishing out seven assists.

In the Western Conference, the top-seeded Thunder are facing the fourth-seeded Denver Nuggets. The series is tied 2-2, with FOX Sports reporting that the Thunder are favored to win the series at -525, while the Nuggets are at +400. In Game 4, the Thunder and Nuggets combined for just 25 points in the first quarter, tying the record for the fewest points in a first quarter in NBA playoff history.

The sixth-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves are facing the seventh-seeded Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference semifinals. As FOX Sports notes, the Timberwolves are leading the series 2-1, and are favored to win the series at -800, while the Warriors are at +550. The Warriors suffered a significant blow in Game 1, as star guard Steph Curry exited the game with a hamstring injury. According to reports, Curry is not expected to return until Game 6 at the earliest.
