O’Keefe Makes Cut: Women’s Golf Star Advances to Amateur Championship Final



Texas Longhorns’ Farah O’Keefe Advances to Final at The Women’s Amateur Championship

According to a report from Texas Longhorns, Texas women’s golf All-American Farah O’Keefe has advanced to the final of The Women’s Amateur Championship, which is being held at the Nairn Golf Club in Scotland. O’Keefe came back from a four-stroke deficit with five holes to play to secure her spot in the final, as reported by Texas Longhorns.

As per the details provided by Texas Longhorns, O’Keefe will compete against Paula Martin Sampedro on Sunday in the 122nd Women’s Amateur Championship final. The match will consist of 36 holes of match play, starting at 2:30 a.m. CT. O’Keefe’s opponent, Sampedro, plays collegiately at Stanford and is ranked No. 12 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.

The source, Texas Longhorns, stated that O’Keefe’s match against Tillie Claggett, a native of The Woodlands, Texas, who plays at Vanderbilt, was intense. Heading into the 14th hole, O’Keefe was down four strokes. However, she made a birdie on hole 15 to cut the deficit in half and made pars on 16 and 17 to square the match. The match went to extra holes, and on the 19th hole, O’Keefe made a birdie putt that won the match.

In an interview, as quoted by Texas Longhorns, it was highlighted that O’Keefe has been busy following the NCAA Championship. She competed and finished T36 at the U.S. Women’s Open and then competed in the Arnold Palmer Cup before traveling directly to Scotland for the Women’s Amateur. O’Keefe played 36 holes of stroke play and was in 11th place in the field. She then won five matches to advance to the final.

According to Texas Longhorns, O’Keefe is currently ranked No. 8 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. The final match will be streamed live at https://www.randa.tv/schedule, as per the information provided by Texas Longhorns.

The Women’s Amateur Championship is a prestigious event, and O’Keefe’s advancement to the final is a significant achievement.
