Orlando Bloom Opens Up About His Latest Film, Deep Cover
Orlando Bloom has spoken exclusively to Digital Spy about his new London-set film, Deep Cover, which is set for release on Prime Video on June 12. The action comedy, directed by Tom Kingsley, follows an improv teacher, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, and two of her students – Bloom and Nick Mohammed – as they are tasked with infiltrating a criminal gang.
Boasting a stacked supporting cast, including Sean Bean, Paddy Considine, and Ian McShane, Bloom plays a struggling actor who takes himself “very seriously”. The actor revealed that he relished the challenge of playing this role, saying “It is so good,” in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy. “Taking yourself too seriously is something [that’s] so easy to do – [I’ve] probably done it myself in the past. I loved the idea of getting involved because all I had to do was play it deadly serious.”
Bloom explained that the part served as a reminder of how “lucky” he was, and that it “reminded me of how lucky we are to do what we do.” He added that the character was a low-hanging fruit, and that he felt the torture of an actor out of work, desperately wanting to be in work.
According to Kingsley, Bloom was “really smart” about why the character was funny and how he could play it by basically committing completely to the role. He told Entertainment Weekly that Bloom was “improvising out of control, which is quite scary to his friends.”
Deep Cover is a comedy that explores the world of improv and the lengths to which actors will go to get work. With a talented cast, including Bloom, Howard, and Mohammed, the film promises to be an entertaining ride.
Digital Spy spoke exclusively to Bloom about his latest project, and he revealed that he was excited about the release of the film. “I’m really excited for people to see it,” he said.
Deep Cover will be available to stream on Prime Video from June 12. With its talented cast and witty script, it’s set to be a hit with audiences.
