Champions League Final: Paris Saint-Germain Takes on Inter Milan
The most highly anticipated football match in France since the 2022 World Cup final between France and Argentina is set to take place this Saturday, May 31st, at 9pm. The Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan will be watched by millions of viewers.
According to a report by RTL.fr, the match will be broadcast live and in clear on M6. Viewers can also watch the match on M6+’, a free platform. Radio listeners can tune in to RTL for a special broadcast from 7pm, live from Munich. Additionally, the match will be live-streamed on RTL.fr.
For fans who prefer to watch the match in a stadium, RTL.fr reports that there will be no outdoor "fan zones" in Paris due to security concerns. However, the match will be broadcast on giant screens in two locations. At the Parc des Princes, the PSG will screen the match for its supporters, with tickets starting from €10. Although reservations are already full, some additional tickets may be available at the stadium’s box office on the day of the match. Another giant screen will be set up in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, but tickets are required.
RTL.fr reports that there will be numerous giant screens set up in the Île-de-France region. In Saint-Germain-en-Laye, a free screening will take place at the Stade Georges-Lefèvre du Camp des Loges, starting at 6:30pm. This stadium is the birthplace of the Stade saint-germanois, a club that merged with Paris FC to form PSG.
In the surrounding suburbs, giant screens are permitted and will be set up in various locations, including Seine-Saint-Denis, Saint-Denis, Épinay-sur-Seine, Garges-lès-Gonesse, Aulnay-sous-Bois, and Rosny-sous-Bois. Similar screenings will also take place in the Yvelines, at Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, Carrières-sous-Poissy, Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, and Trappes.
RTL.fr also reports that Bruno Retailleau, the French Minister of the Interior, has requested that prefects take all necessary measures to secure "fan zones" and other locations where the match will be screened. This includes implementing anti-vehicle barrier systems and increasing police presence. The minister’s request comes in the wake of recent incidents, including a car ramming into a crowd in Liverpool during a parade to celebrate the English club’s championship title, which left 79 people injured.
As stated by RTL.fr, "It will be necessary to establish, in liaison with the organisers and elected officials, anti-vehicle barrier systems in areas where large crowds are gathered. In general, you will take all necessary measures to secure these gatherings, with a visible presence of law enforcement officers near the sites where the match will be broadcast. Sentinel patrols can be organised on the periphery of these sectors," according to the minister’s message.
