Paolini travolge Stearns, vola in finale agli Internazionali

Italy’s Jasmine Paolini Reaches Rome Final with Thrilling Comeback Win Over Stearns

Italy’s Jasmine Paolini has become the fifth Italian in history to reach the final of the Rome Internazionali, defeating American Peyton Stearns 7-5, 6-1 in a thrilling semifinal match. According to Gazzetta.it, Paolini’s victory marked her third consecutive comeback win in the tournament, having also overcome Ostapenko and Shnaider in previous matches.

Paolini, currently ranked fifth in the world, was considered the favourite to win the match, but Stearns, ranked 42nd, proved to be a formidable opponent. The American started strongly, taking a 4-2 lead and putting Paolini under pressure with her aggressive play. However, Paolini refused to give up, and her determination paid off as she fought back to level the set at 5-5. As Gazzetta.it reports, Paolini saved two set points before securing the break and taking the set 7-5.

The second set was a one-sided affair, with Paolini dominating Stearns to take a 4-1 lead and eventually win 6-1. This victory marks a significant milestone for Paolini, who is now one of only three Italian women in the Open era to have reached the final of the Rome Internazionali, following in the footsteps of Sara Errani and Reggi, who won the title in 1985.

Paolini’s win also means that Italy will be represented in the final of the women’s singles for the first time in 11 years. As Gazzetta.it notes, Paolini will face the winner of the match between Zheng and Gauff in the final, with the chance to make history and become the first Italian woman to win the title since Valerio in 1931.

The Italian player has had a remarkable run in the tournament, overcoming adversity and opponents to reach the final. As Gazzetta.it reports, Paolini has demonstrated her resilience and determination, qualities that have earned her a reputation as one of the most exciting young players in the sport.

In a statement to Gazzetta.it, Paolini reflected on her victory, saying that she had worked hard to reach this stage and was thrilled to have made it to the final. With her sights set on making history, Paolini will look to continue her impressive form in the final and bring glory to Italian tennis.

According to Gazzetta.it, Paolini’s achievement is a testament to her hard work and dedication, and she joins an elite group of Italian players who have reached the final of the Rome Internazionali. As the Italian tennis community celebrates Paolini’s success, the player will look to cap off an incredible run with a historic win in the final.
