Pegula Leads Charge; Raducanu to Face Kasatkina

Strasbourg Draw Revealed: Pegula Tops Field as Raducanu Faces Kasatkina

The main draw for the year’s final WTA 500 clay-court event, the Internationaux de Strasbourg, was revealed on Saturday, according to a report by WTA Tennis. The prestigious tournament, which takes place in Strasbourg, France, boasts a marquee field that includes Grand Slam champions Emma Raducanu, Elena Rybakina, Barbora Krejcikova, and Sofia Kenin.

World No. 4 Jessica Pegula is the top seed of the 28-player main draw, which features several high-profile players. As WTA Tennis reports, Pegula has had a remarkable season so far, winning 28 WTA main-draw matches in 2025, making her one of the winningest players on tour this year. The American will have a first-round bye, along with the other top four seeds, before facing either Anna Kalinskaya or a qualifier in the second round.

In a highly anticipated first-round match, 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu will face sixth seed Daria Kasatkina. According to WTA Tennis, Kasatkina has a 3-0 head-to-head record against Raducanu, making this a intriguing contest. The winner of this match will play the winner of an all-American clash between 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin and last year’s Strasbourg runner-up Danielle Collins.

The top quarter of the draw also features World No. 10 Paula Badosa, who leads the second quarter as the No. 3 seed. As noted by WTA Tennis, Badosa will make her Strasbourg debut, facing either Alizé Cornet or a qualifier in the second round. Meanwhile, Liudmila Samsonova is the other seed in this quarter and will face Linda Noskova in the first round.

In the third quarter, 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina heads the draw as the No. 4 seed. WTA Tennis reports that Rybakina will face Wang Xinyu or a qualifier in the second round, looking to build on her successful 2020 campaign in Strasbourg, where she reached the final. At the other end of this quarter, No. 7 seed Barbora Krejcikova will play her first match of the year after injuries kept her off court all season. The reigning Wimbledon champion brings a 3-0 head-to-head record into her first round vs. Magda Linette.

The fourth quarter of the draw has seen some changes, with two-time Strasbourg champion Elina Svitolina withdrawing from the draw due to a lower back injury. WTA Tennis reports that Beatriz Haddad Maia has slotted into Svitolina’s spot in the draw as the No. 9 seed. World No. 9 Emma Navarro sits at the bottom of the draw as the No. 2 seed, and will face either Magdalena Frech or a qualifier in the second round.

The Internationaux de Strasbourg begins on Sunday, May 18, and runs through the finals on Saturday, May 24, just ahead of Roland Garros, the year’s second Grand Slam.
