Police Search for Parents of Abandoned Siblings, Nicknamed ‘Baby Elsa’

BBC News Investigation Reveals Chilling Details of Triple Baby Abandonment Case

In a shocking and disturbing case that has left authorities and the public stunned, three babies were abandoned in separate locations across East London over a period of several years. According to a report by the BBC, the first baby, a boy who was named Harry by emergency staff, was found on September 17, 2017, in a bush in Plaistow Park, wrapped in a towel. He was discovered over a mile to the west of the spot where a second baby, a girl named Elsa, would later be found.

The BBC reports that sixteen months after Harry’s discovery, his sister Roman was found on a bench in a small children’s play park in Roman Road. A dog walker stumbled upon her on a freezing evening at around 22:15, wrapped in a towel and placed inside a Sainsbury’s shopping bag. The circumstances surrounding the abandonment of the two babies were particularly harrowing, with authorities left to piece together the events leading up to their discovery.

As reported by the BBC, DNA tests revealed that Harry and Roman were full siblings, although this information was not initially made public. It was only when Elsa was discovered five years later, and the case came before the family court, that the true extent of the family’s tragedy became clear. According to Detective Inspector Jamie Humm, who became the case’s senior investigating officer after Elsa was found, "it wasn’t a huge shock" when DNA confirmed she was the sister of the other two babies.

Elsa, the third baby, was found just a few minutes’ walk from where Roman was abandoned. The BBC reports that the case has left authorities questioning how three babies could be abandoned in such a similar manner, and the investigation is ongoing. The police have confirmed that they are working to identify the parents and bring them to justice.

The BBC spoke to Det Insp Humm, who revealed that the case has been one of the most challenging of his career. "The fact that these babies were abandoned in such a similar way suggests that there may have been a particular motivation or circumstance that led to their abandonment," he said. The police are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist with their inquiries.

As the investigation continues, the BBC reports that the community is still reeling from the news. The triple abandonment case has raised concerns about the welfare of vulnerable children and the support systems in place to protect them. The authorities are working to ensure that such a tragedy never occurs again, and that families receive the support they need to care for their children. The case serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by social services and law enforcement in identifying and supporting vulnerable families.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said they were committed to finding the parents of the three babies and bringing them to justice. "We understand that this case has caused concern and distress in the community, and we want to reassure the public that we are doing everything in our power to investigate and bring those responsible to account," a spokesperson said.

The case is ongoing, and the BBC will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
