Sony Announces PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for May 2025
In a recent post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony has revealed the PlayStation Plus monthly games for May 2025. PS Plus members will be able to download Ark: Survival Ascended, Balatro, and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun for free from May 6 to June 2, as reported by IGN.
The line-up of games had been speculated about in recent weeks, with some sources suggesting that Until Dawn would be one of the titles on offer. However, according to IGN, this game is not on the list. Instead, PS Plus members will be able to access the three games mentioned above, which offer a diverse range of gaming experiences.
Ark: Survival Ascended | PS5
Ark: Survival Ascended is a survival sim that has been reimagined from the ground-up with Unreal Engine 5. The game features high-end graphic features, advanced physics systems, and quality of life revamps in every area. As IGN notes, players will be able to "form a tribe, tame and breed hundreds of species of dinosaurs and other primeval creatures, explore, craft, build, and fight your way to the top of the food-chain." The game supports public online multiplayer for up to 70 players, private-session multiplayer for up to 8 players, and local split-screen for 2 players.
Balatro | PS5, PS4
Balatro is a poker-inspired roguelike deck builder that challenges players to create powerful synergies and win big. According to IGN, the game involves "play[ing] illegal poker hands, discover[ing] game-changing jokers and trigger[ing] outrageous combos in this roguelike strategy experience." Players will need to combine valid poker hands with unique joker cards in order to create varied synergies and builds, and earn enough chips to beat devious blinds and uncover hidden bonus hands and decks.
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun | PS5, PS4
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is a fast-paced FPS game that combines the Warhammer 40,000 universe with the stylish visuals of 90’s retro shooters. As IGN reports, players will be able to "load up your Boltgun and plunge into battle headfirst" as a battle-hardened Space Marine on a perilous mission across the galaxy. The game features a blend of frenetic gameplay and stylish visuals, and players will be able to "unleash your devastating Space Marine arsenal as you blast through an explosion of sprites, pixels and blood."
In related news, 22 games are set to be pulled from the PlayStation Plus library next month, including Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. This means that Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will now completely disappear for modern consoles.
