Rangers Reveal Players Leaving Club This Summer

Rangers Football Club has confirmed that Ianis Hagi, Leon Balogun, and Tom Lawrence will be departing the club upon the expiry of their contracts. The news was announced on the club’s official website, with the Light Blues expressing their gratitude to the departing players for their contributions to the team.

According to the Rangers website, the club has thanked the departing players sincerely for their efforts and wished them all the best for their future careers. The players have been an integral part of the team, with Ianis Hagi making 130 appearances for the club since joining on loan in January 2020. The Romanian midfielder made a permanent move to Rangers in the summer of that year and enjoyed several notable moments, including a famous double against Braga in the UEFA Europa League and goals and assists in the title-winning 2020-21 campaign.

The Rangers website noted that Ianis Hagi’s time at the club came to an end after years of great achievements and tough moments, with both the club and player mutually agreeing to part ways. As quoted on the Rangers website, the club said: “After various conversations, both the club and Ianis have decided to part ways and mutually agreed to bring their time together to an end, after years full of great achievements and tough moments, always driven by the same ambition and commitment to the team.”

Leon Balogun, who initially joined Rangers in the summer of 2020, has made a total of 114 appearances across his two spells with the club. The defender played a significant role in the Light Blues’ invincible league title win in the 2020-21 season and contributed to the team’s success in the UEFA Europa League. As stated on the Rangers website, Balogun “was an instant hit” and built up a “terrific rapport with the Rangers supporters” during his time at the club.

Tom Lawrence, who joined Rangers in the summer of 2022, has made 69 appearances for the club across his three seasons. The midfielder made an instant impact, scoring three goals in three games in August 2022, and contributed to the team’s return to the UEFA Champions League. Despite being sidelined by injury for a year, Lawrence has made a significant contribution to the team, scoring nine goals in the last two seasons.

In addition to the departing players, the Rangers website also confirmed that loan players Vaclav Cerny, Neraysho Kasanwirjo, and Rafael Fernandes will return to their parent clubs. Cerny enjoyed a fruitful season at Rangers, scoring 18 goals and providing 10 assists in 52 appearances. As reported by the Rangers website, six of those goals came in the UEFA Europa League, including a notable double away to Fenerbahce in the round of 16.

The news of the departing players has been met with a mixture of sadness and gratitude from the Rangers fans, who have taken to social media to express their appreciation for the players’ contributions to the team. The Rangers website noted that the club wishes the departing players all the best for their future careers and thanked them for their efforts during their time at Ibrox.
