Tragic Death of Dropout Kings Lead Singer Adam Ramey at 32
The music world is in shock following the tragic death of Adam Ramey, the lead singer of rap-metal band Dropout Kings, who passed away at the age of 32. According to a statement from his family, Adam had been battling addiction for some time and sadly took his own life on May 19, just five days before his 32nd birthday.
Adam was not only the lead vocalist of Dropout Kings but also a co-founder member of the band, which he formed in 2016. The group, originally called Phoenix Down, changed its name to Dropout Kings the following year. Adam sang on both of their full-length albums, AudioDope and Riot Music. The band shot to fame in 2021 with their hit single Virus, which earned them a spot in the Top 40 of Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart.
As reported by The Sun, Adam’s family confirmed his passing and described him as a "beloved husband, father, son, and lead vocalist of Dropout Kings." His family member wrote on a GoFundMe page set up to support Adam’s family: "Adam wasn’t just my brother-in-law. He was like a real brother to me. He saved my life during one of my darkest times and always showed up for the people he loved."
The GoFundMe page was created to help support Adam’s family, particularly his wife Jamie and their 18-month-old son, Jude, who are now facing "unimaginable heartbreak" and financial struggles. Adam’s bandmates paid tribute to him on social media, writing: "The rollercoaster of chasing your dreams and building with your brothers and friends is a joy few get to know… With the heaviest hearts, we share that our brother, Adam Ramey, has passed away."
In an emotional tribute, the band continued: "His passion, energy, and love for music shaped Dropout Kings and touched countless lives. Adam’s spirit, charisma, and energy will not only forever inspire us, but will push us into the future to be the best that we can." The band’s statement concluded with a message of love and respect for Adam, saying: "Thank you for everything, Chip. Rest in power, Adam. We’ll always love you, fam."
Adam’s final social media post was a heartwarming one, featuring a picture of his son and a message of gratitude. He wrote: "Praise to the most high, thankful for all my blessings and grateful for this family and life of mine. Happy Easter errbody." In another post about fatherhood shared last year, Adam penned: "Back at home from this amazing EU/UK run. Finally reunited with the lights of my life."
As reported by The Sun, Adam’s company, PUSH Digital Marketing, also paid tribute to him. The singer’s final performance with the band took place in February 2024 at the Orpheum in Tampa, Florida, and the band still had live shows scheduled for later this year on their website at the time of Adam’s passing.
The music industry is mourning the loss of a talented artist and devoted family man. As the news of Adam’s passing spreads, fans and fellow musicians are coming together to pay tribute to him.
