Gigi Hadid, fresh off celebrating her 30th birthday, was gilded in gold with an old Hollywood updo, wearing a custom Miu Miu gown that celebrated icon Josephine Baker. LaLa Anthony, one of the Vogue livestream hosts, wore archival Off-White by the late Virgil Abloh.
The Met Gala 2025 theme coincides with the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute’s spring exhibit, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which explores the concept of dandyism and its significance in Black culture. The exhibit is inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.”
