Rolando Romero Vows to ‘Flatline’ Garcia in Times Square Bout

Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero has vowed to knock out Ryan Garcia, leaving him in a "flatlined" state, when the two fighters face off at the Fatal Fury card in Times Square, New York City, this Friday night. According to Boxing News 24, Romero, who boasts a record of 16-2 with 13 KOs, is unsure of the strategy he will employ against Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs), but has hinted that he may throw "40 million punches" or box him in a style similar to that of two-time Cuban Olympic gold medalist Guillermo Rigondeaux.

Romero’s father is Cuban, and this approach may work for him, as it is what he used to beat up Garcia during a sparring session in the past. However, if Romero decides to box Garcia, he may be playing into his opponent’s hands, as Garcia has performed well against fighters who try to box him. This was evident in his fight against Devin Haney last April, when Garcia employed a tactical approach.

The fight between Garcia and Romero will headline the Fatal Fury card, live on DAZN pay-per-view, with a PPV price of $59.99. Fans can also purchase the Knockout Weekend Bundle, which includes the May 3rd Canelo Alvarez vs. William Scull fight, for $90. A win for Romero would be a major upset, as many people are not giving him much of a chance. However, Romero’s punching power gives him a good shot at winning if he can target Garcia’s body, which has been identified as a weakness, as exposed by Gervonta Davis.

In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Romero stated, "They can rematch. I don’t care. They can rematch after I knock him out. I don’t really care." When told that he would like to see Garcia fight Haney after his bout with Romero, Rolly replied, "I just don’t care." Garcia and Haney are expected to rematch in October, regardless of the outcome of their respective fights on the Fatal Fury card.

As Boxing News 24 reports, Romero has promised to "flatline" Garcia, stating, "Ryan Garcia flatlined on the canvas. That’s about it. It’s just sleeping. Goodnight. Pay attention to every interaction me and Ryan have had, especially over the last few years. It’ll change your whole perspective on everything." Romero refused to reveal the details of his interactions with Garcia, but it is clear that he is confident in his ability to defeat him.

When asked about his strategy for the fight, Romero said, "It depends on how I feel that day. Maybe I might come at him nonstop and throw 40 million punches. Maybe I’ll box like Rigondeaux or something." He also mentioned that he has a mental edge over Garcia, stating, "I whipped his a** [in sparring]. It’s sparring. It’s irrelevant." Romero also highlighted the difference between his upcoming fight against Garcia at 147 and his previous bout against Gervonta Davis at 135, stating, "I’m not dehydrated. I’m not killing myself to make a weight class I shouldn’t be in. That right there is miles above anything else."

The stage is set for an exciting fight between Romero and Garcia, with many boxing fans eagerly anticipating the outcome. Will Romero be able to fulfill his promise to "flatline" Garcia, or will Garcia prove too strong? The answer will have to wait until Friday night, when the two fighters face off in Times Square. According to Boxing News 24, this is a fight that promises to be an exciting and unpredictable encounter.
