Roman Kemp’s Harrowing Realisation About His Parents’ Mortality

Roman Kemp Opens Up About Mortality and His Famous Parents

Roman Kemp, the popular radio host and TV presenter, has shared his recent thoughts on mortality, revealing that he has been worrying about death and the afterlife. In a candid conversation on his podcast, You About? with singer Tom Grennan, Roman confessed that he has been contemplating death more frequently, particularly as he’s about to fall asleep. According to The Bristol Post, Roman revealed: "I had a realisation, it freaks me out talking about it, which is weird because I thought I was quite understanding of death, understanding of things, but this week I’ve had moments, you know when you’re about to fall asleep, and then you go, ‘I’m going to die one day’. That’s weird." The Bristol Post reported on Roman’s thoughts on death and the afterlife.

Roman’s concerns about death have led him to think about his famous parents, Martin and Shirlie Kemp. He explained that while his father, Spandau Ballet bassist Martin, 63, views death as the end, he himself contemplates the possibility of an afterlife. Roman said: "I do think there’s got to be more to what this is, whatever this is, and I really hope that when I do die, it’s like the Matrix and I wake up somewhere else." This realisation has been unsettling for Roman, who admitted that he finds it hard not to think about death, especially when he thinks about his parents passing away.

The Bristol Post reported that Roman’s thoughts on mortality have also led him to appreciate his relationship with his father, Martin. Roman told Martin that he likes working with him so that he can show his future grandchildren their bond. Roman said: "I want to do things with you because I like that when I’m older, if I have grandkids, I have evidence to show my relationship with you." Martin and Roman have worked together on various projects, including their podcast, FFS! My Dad is Martin Kemp, as well as appearing on Celebrity Gogglebox and Martin and Roman’s Sunday Best!.

Martin Kemp has previously spoken about his own acceptance of death, after being diagnosed with a brain tumour in the 1990s. According to The Bristol Post, Martin said: "Every day, every year, every month that I’ve lived has been a bonus. When I was 34 and I went through that brain tumour stuff, I was practically resigned to the fact I was gonna die." Martin has also mentioned that he believes he has "10 years left", a comment that has been widely reported.

Roman’s conversation with Tom Grennan on his podcast also touched on his views on reincarnation. Roman stated that he doesn’t believe in reincarnation, saying: "I don’t believe in reincarnation, that to me is the silliest one, if reincarnation was real, everyone would be coming up being like, ‘I used to be this’ or ‘I used to do this’." This statement highlights Roman’s pragmatic approach to life and death.

The Bristol Post also reported that Roman’s fears about death have led him to think about his parents’ mortality. Roman said: "And then after that, I go ‘S***, my mum and dad are going to die’ and I’m not ready for that. And then I just try and think about how my parents were when their parents died, and they weren’t that bad. Obviously they were bad, but you do get over it." This candid conversation provides a glimpse into Roman’s personal life and his relationships with his parents.

In conclusion, Roman Kemp’s recent thoughts on mortality have led him to contemplate death, the afterlife, and his famous parents. His candid conversation on his podcast provides a unique insight into his personal life and relationships. As reported by The Bristol Post, Roman’s realisation about mortality has been a sobering experience, one that has made him appreciate his relationships and the time he has with his loved ones.
