Royal Family Rift: New Biography Reveals Shocking Account of Meghan Markle and Princess Kate’s Bridesmaid Dress Dispute
A new biography, Yes, Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants, by Tom Quinn, has shed new light on a long-standing dispute between Meghan Markle and Princess Kate over bridesmaid dresses, contradicting Meghan’s previous account of the incident. According to a royal staff member quoted in the book, both Meghan and Kate were "crying their eyes out" during the heated discussion.
The dispute, which took place just days before Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, has been a subject of much speculation and debate. Meghan had previously told Oprah Winfrey in an interview that Kate had apologized to her for making her cry, saying "The reverse happened. And I don’t say that to be disparaging to anyone, because it was a really hard week of the wedding. And she was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologized. And she brought me flowers and a note, apologizing. And she did what I would do if I knew that I hurt someone, right, to just take accountability for it."
However, the new biography tells a different story. According to the royal staff member, "I can tell you that all the papers and commentators got this wrong, the truth is that as with many of these spats between sisters, brothers or even sisters-in-law, both sides were really upset." The staff member continued, "The truth is that during the discussions about the bridesmaid’s dress Meghan said a few things she regretted and Kate said a few things she later regretted, but it was all in the heat of the moment. Both women were crying their eyes out!"
This account is also at odds with Prince Harry’s account of the incident in his memoir, Spare. According to Harry, Kate had called Meghan days before the wedding to say that Princess Charlotte’s dress was too big and needed to be remade. Harry wrote that Meghan had replied, "Right, and I told you the tailor has been standing by since 8 a.m. Here. At KP
