The Pakistan women’s national cricket team is set to face Bangladesh in the 14th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers 2025 at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground in Lahore on Saturday, 19 April 2025. Pakistan have already qualified for the marquee event, while Bangladesh need a win to confirm their spot in the competition.
According to Outlook India, Bangladesh women won the toss and opted to bat first in Lahore. The team is currently three wickets down, with Ritu Moni and Nahida Akter at the crease.
The live blog from Outlook India reported that Pakistan women captain Fatima Sana came to bowl the first over and Dilara Akter along with Fargana Hoque, came to open the batting for Bangladesh women. The first two balls went for boundaries, giving Bangladesh a good start.
Pakistan’s Diana Baig got her first wicket of the match when she dismissed the set batter Sharmin Akhter in the 18th over. Akhter made 24 runs off 47 balls, including four boundaries.
As per Outlook India, despite leaking two boundaries in her first over, Fatima Sana continued her attack and bowled Fargana Hoque to get the first breakthrough in the match. Sadia Iqbal got rid of Dilara Akter in her third over. Pakistan captain dismissed Bangladesh skipper, Nigar Sultana to make their opponent three wickets down.
The article from Outlook India also stated that Pakistan women were the first team to qualify for the main event after winning their first four matches in a row. The fight is now between Bangladesh and the West Indies for the second spot.
If Bangladesh win this match, they will easily qualify for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. However, if they lose, the West Indies will have to win with a better run-rate to qualify for the competition.
