Liverpool Forward Luis Díaz Attracts Interest from Saudi Arabia
Liverpool’s Colombian forward, Luis Díaz, is reportedly attracting interest from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, according to The Guardian. Díaz has two years remaining on his contract and has yet to enter talks on an extension.
The 28-year-old winger, who was utilised effectively in a central role by Arne Slot this past season, enjoyed a productive campaign for the Premier League champions, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists. As per The Guardian, there has been no approach to Liverpool by Al-Nassr so far, but Saudi interest in Díaz is longstanding.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential departure before the Club World Cup may see Al-Nassr enter the market for another big name. The Guardian reports that the club are likely to be active in the transfer window. Díaz’s versatility and impressive performances have seemingly caught the attention of Al-Nassr.
Another potential target for the Saudi Pro League is Liverpool’s Uruguay striker, Darwin Núñez, who has been linked with Al-Hilal. The Guardian states that Liverpool would be more open to selling Núñez than Díaz in what is expected to be a big spending summer for the Reds.
Liverpool are currently engaged in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a club record deal for Florian Wirtz. The Reds are also close to confirming the £30m transfer of Wirtz’s teammate, Jeremie Frimpong. Additionally, they are interested in signing Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, who is valued at £45m, as per The Guardian. The champions are also expected to move for another striker.
In other news, Real Madrid have reportedly reopened talks with Liverpool over signing Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Spanish giants want to include the defender in their plans for the expanded Fifa Club World Cup, which starts in the United States on 14 June. As The Guardian notes, Alexander-Arnold can join Real on a free when his contract ends at the end of next month. However, Real Madrid, under new head coach Xabi Alonso, are keen to sign him before his contract expires.
Real’s determination to sign Alexander-Arnold early could see Liverpool pocket around £10m should a deal be agreed. As the transfer window heats up, Liverpool and other clubs will be looking to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season.
The potential departure of Alexander-Arnold and interest in Díaz and Núñez come as Liverpool prepare for a busy summer of transfers. With several high-profile targets and possible departures, the Reds will be looking to make strategic signings to maintain their competitiveness in the Premier League and European competitions.
