Scotland Stag Do Mystery: Man Vanishes in Portugal

Mystery Surrounds Scottish Man’s Disappearance on Stag Do in Portugal

A Scottish family is appealing for help from authorities and the public in finding their loved one, Greg Monks, who went missing on a stag do in Portugal. According to Sky News, Mr Monks, 38, from Glasgow, was last seen in Albufeira in the early hours of Wednesday morning, on the first night of a five-day stag do.

The family of Mr Monks, including his parents and girlfriend, flew out to Portugal to assist with the search efforts, but so far, no recent sightings have been reported. In an interview with Sky News, Mr Monks’s sisters, Jillian and Carlyn, expressed their growing concern and frustration. "As a family, we’re worried sick," Carlyn stated. "It’s just so unlike him, but myself and Jillian are just trying to hold each other up back home."

The sisters described Mr Monks as a "real family man" and emphasised that he would not intentionally put his loved ones through this ordeal. "He deserves to be found, he deserves to be looked for, we need him home," Jillian said. "He’s a big part of our family, and it’s just unimaginable if he’s just lying somewhere and we can’t find him." The family is now urging the police to intensify their search efforts, citing concerns that the current search may not be thorough enough.

According to Sky News, Mr Monks’s friends reported him missing after he failed to return home from the night before, and an attempt was made to report him missing to the police. However, the report was not taken seriously initially, as only 12 hours had passed since he was last seen. Upon arrival in Albufeira, the family was informed that Mr Monks had been spotted twice on CCTV footage walking around the residential area.

The area where Mr Monks was last seen is characterised by rough terrain, including rocky outcrops and cliffs, and is over an hour’s walk from the Albufeira Strip, where he was thought to have left his friends. Sky News reported that the police are currently searching for Mr Monks, but the sisters claim that they "just don’t have the manpower" to thoroughly search the area. The family is now calling for the police to deploy dogs to aid in the search efforts.

The sisters have set up a Facebook page to gather any information that may help locate Mr Monks. They are appealing to locals and anyone with information to come forward, no matter how small it may seem. "If you know anything, any tiny bit of information, get in touch," they urged. Sky News has confirmed that a body was found during the search for Mr Monks, but the family has not been informed of the details.

As the search for Mr Monks continues, his family remains hopeful that he will be found soon. "I know that if he could phone us or reach out to us, he would, he wouldn’t put us through this," Jillian said. The family is anxiously waiting for answers, and Sky News will provide updates as more information becomes available.
