Severe Storms to Strike Tonight: Residents Urged to Prepare for Powerful Weather System

Severe Thunderstorms Expected to Hit Region Tonight and Sunday Morning

A 48 First Alert Weather Day has been issued for the potential of severe weather tonight and into the early hours of Sunday morning, according to WAFF. The storms are expected to arrive later this evening, with a wide time spread on the actual arrival, but high confidence that most of the storm will hold off until the evening.

During the day, residents can expect dry, warm, and breezy conditions, with temperatures reaching the 80s. However, WAFF warns that the main line of storms will arrive after 10 PM for locations west of the region and then slowly move east through Sunday morning. It is possible that a few stronger storms may pop before the line arrives between 6 PM and 10 PM for locations west of I-65.

Residents are advised to be weather alert this evening and overnight, with damaging winds, heavy rainfall, large hail, and a chance for a few tornadoes possible. WAFF reports that damaging winds and heavy rainfall will be the highest threat. "Be weather alert this evening and overnight. Have ways to receive notifications," WAFF warned.

On Sunday, the storms are expected to transition to rainfall and will continue through the morning, ending during the afternoon for locations closest to the Georgia/Alabama state line. Temperatures will drop into the 60s throughout the day. WAFF also reports that plenty of sun is expected next week, with cool temperatures early in the week and moderating temperatures by midweek.

In fact, WAFF predicts that frost is possible on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Residents are advised to stay tuned to local weather reports and sign up for emergency alerts to stay informed about the severe weather.
