Shapovalov éliminé au deuxième tour à Madrid

Denis Shapovalov Cruises into Third Round of Madrid Masters

Canadian tennis player Denis Shapovalov has advanced to the third round of the Madrid Masters, defeating Japan’s Kei Nishikori in straight sets on Saturday. Shapovalov, ranked 30th in the world, won the match 6-1, 6-4, in just 65 minutes, according to a report by Journal de Québec.

The Journal de Québec reports that Shapovalov was in control throughout the match, serving with precision and accuracy. He hit four aces and won 83% of his service points, while also converting three of six break points.

Shapovalov’s victory sets up a third-round match against sixth seed Alex de Minaur of Australia, who defeated Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets earlier on Saturday. De Minaur, a formidable opponent, will provide a stern test for Shapovalov, who will be looking to continue his impressive form.

In other news, fellow Canadian tennis player Gabriel Diallo also advanced to the third round of the Madrid Masters, defeating Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak in three sets. Diallo, ranked 78th in the world, won the match 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, Journal de Québec reported.

Diallo’s victory was a significant one, as he had benefited from a "lucky loser" spot in the draw after Carlos Alcaraz, the world’s third-ranked player, withdrew from the tournament due to injury. Diallo will face Britain’s Cameron Norrie in the next round.

The Journal de Québec reports that Diallo had a strong serving performance, hitting 10 aces and winning 70% of his service points. He also broke Majchrzak seven times, while only being broken once.

Canadian tennis fans will be eagerly following Shapovalov and Diallo’s progress in the Madrid Masters, as they look to make a deep run in the tournament. With Shapovalov’s impressive form and Diallo’s determined performance, there is optimism that one or both players could make a significant impact in the competition.

According to Journal de Québec, Shapovalov’s win over Nishikori was a dominant performance, with the Canadian player hitting 13 winners and only four unforced errors. The win sets up an intriguing matchup against de Minaur, who will be looking to test Shapovalov’s skills.

The Madrid Masters continues to provide exciting tennis action, with many top players vying for the title. Fans can expect more thrilling matches as the tournament progresses, with Shapovalov and Diallo looking to make their mark on the competition.
