Roland Garros 2023: Day One Results

The men’s draw also saw a number of unseeded players cause upsets, including Daniel Altmaier, who defeated Taylor Fritz, the fourth seed. The German player won 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. Alejandro Tabilo also progressed to the next round, beating Arthur Cazaux in a thrilling five-set match. The Chilean player won 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3.
In the women’s draw, a number of top seeds also secured victories, including Elena Rybakina, the 12th seed, who defeated Julia Riera. The Kazakh player won 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Corriere.it also reported that Iga Świątek, the fifth seed, eased past Rebecca Šramková, winning 6-3, 6-3. Emma Raducanu, the British player, also secured a hard-fought victory over Wang Xinyu, winning 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
The women’s draw also saw a number of upsets, including the defeat of Caroline Garcia, the French player, at the hands of Bernarda Pera. The American player won 6-4, 6-4. Elsewhere, Jaqueline Cristian caused an upset, defeating Kimberly Birrell in straight sets. The Romanian player won 6-1, 6-0.
