Stars Align for Dublin Trilogy: Black Doves, Game of Thrones Actors On Board

BBC and RTÉ to Adapt Caimh O’Driscoll’s Dublin Trilogy in New Series "Tall Tales & Murder"

A new 12-episode drama series, titled "Tall Tales & Murder", is set to premiere on the BBC and RTÉ, bringing to life the Dublin Trilogy by Irish author Caimh O’Driscoll. According to Radio Times, the series is an adaptation of O’Driscoll’s novels, which include "A Man with One of Those Faces", "The Wrong Kind of Murder", and others.

The first book in the trilogy, "A Man with One of Those Faces", follows Dublin man Paul Mulchrone as he goes on the run from someone attempting to kill him, accompanied by a mystery-loving nurse and a violent policeman. While it’s unclear which of the eight novels will most inform the screen version, this initial premise could factor into the screen adaptation, as reported by Radio Times.

Filming for the series is currently underway in the Republic of Ireland, with a talented cast including Ella Lily Hyland (Black Doves), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), Philippa Dunne (Amandaland), and Packy Lee (Peaky Blinders). Although details on their respective roles are yet to be revealed, the ensemble promises to bring depth and complexity to the story.

The adaptation is being directed by Chris Addison (Veep, Breeders), with the screenplay penned by Stuart Carolan. Carolan expressed his excitement to work with Addison, stating, "I’ve been a fan of the brilliant Chris Addison since The Thick of It – it’s been incredible fun working with him to bring this insane story to life," as quoted by Radio Times. Addison also shared his enthusiasm, saying, "I’m frankly giddy with delight to get to team up with the twisted and highly original mind of Stuart Carolan to create this show."

The series promises to be a "dark and delicious screwball drama", as described by Addison, with Radio Times reporting that the show will be "storytelling at its darkest, funniest and most surreal". Eddie Doyle, BBC Northern Ireland’s Head of Content Commissioning, added, "Tall Tales & Murder is storytelling at its darkest, funniest and most surreal. We’re looking forward to bringing audiences with us on this wild and thrilling ride from Stuart Carolan and Chris Addison, masters of their craft."

The collaboration between the BBC and RTÉ marks an exciting development in the world of drama, with Radio Times confirming that "Tall Tales & Murder" will be coming soon to both networks. As more information becomes available, fans of drama and mystery can look forward to a thrilling ride with this new series. For now, viewers can stay up-to-date with the latest news and updates on Radio Times.
