T.O.P Opens Up About Past Regrets After Squid Game 2 Success

Ex-BIGBANG’s T.O.P. Opens Up About Past Mistakes After Squid Game 2: Can He Move On To A New Chapter Of Life?

In a recent event in Los Angeles, Choi Seung-Hyun, better known as T.O.P., the former BIGBANG member, addressed his troubled past for the first time in front of fans. According to reports from Times Now News, T.O.P. played the character Thanos/Player 230 in Squid Game Season 2, which gained a significant amount of attention for his absurd raps and uncertain behaviour.

T.O.P.’s newfound fame did not come easy, as his casting in the survival thriller created a lot of chatter given his past brush with substance abuse and jail term. In 2017, T.O.P. was sentenced to 10 months in prison and two years of suspension for drug abuse. He subsequently exited his K-pop group BIGBANG and withdrew from the entertainment industry, publicly announcing that he would not return to the spotlight.

However, with his role in Squid Game Season 2, T.O.P. has seemingly made a comeback. During the event in Los Angeles, he opened up about his mistakes and controversies, stating, "I have made my mistakes in the past and I have to come face to face with those mistakes when I was playing this character. So, I needed to muster up a lot of courage to take on this role but Director Hwang gave me so much trust so that I could have the confidence to play this role and while creating this character Thanos, I could self-reflect about my past and I think I can finally move on to a new chapter of my life, so I learned a lot from this character," as quoted by Times Now News.

T.O.P. also expressed his experience of creating the character Thanos, stating, "I think Thanos is a character that I had to have a lot of talks with Director Hwang to create. We had a lot of talks down to the most minute details of this character. He’s not an amazing rapper, he’s more like a failed soul, a failed young person whose reliant on drugs and I looked up what happens he’s addicted to those kinds of strong drugs. What kind of anxiety he feels, what kind of mood swings he has, and I wanted to infuse that into this character, Thanos."

The character of Thanos, played by T.O.P., emerged as a fan-favourite in Squid Game Season 2, both for being the most violent and comical. His turn as a villain was hailed by many, and his casting in the show left many questioning his decision to retire from the entertainment industry.

As reported by Times Now News, T.O.P.’s casting in Squid Game Season 2 was met with backlash, given his past controversies. However, with his recent statements, it appears that T.O.P. is trying to move on from his past mistakes and start a new chapter in his life.

The incident in 2017, where T.O.P. was sentenced to prison and suspension for drug abuse, was a significant setback for the musician. However, his role in Squid Game Season 2 has provided him with an opportunity to redeem himself and make a comeback in the entertainment industry.

In conclusion, T.O.P.’s recent statements about his past mistakes and his experience playing the character Thanos in Squid Game Season 2 have provided fans with a deeper understanding of his perspective on his troubled past. As reported by Times Now News, it appears that T.O.P. is trying to move on from his past and start a new chapter in his life, and fans will be eagerly awaiting his next move.
