Wes Anderson Exhibition Comes to London: Tickets Now on Sale
A landmark Wes Anderson exhibition is set to open at the Design Museum in London later this year, featuring over 600 items from the acclaimed filmmaker’s back catalogue. The exhibition, titled ‘Wes Anderson: The Archives’, is the director’s first-ever retrospective and promises to be a must-visit for film enthusiasts.
According to a report by Time Out London, the exhibition will showcase a vast array of items, including costumes, storyboards, sketches, props, motion puppets, and handwritten notebooks. One of the highlights of the exhibition is a three-metre wide model of The Grand Budapest Hotel, which was used to capture the building’s façade for the iconic 2014 film.
Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to see recognisable items up close, such as vending machines from Asteroid City and the FENDI fur coat worn by Gwyneth Paltrow as Margot Tenenbaum in The Royal Tenenbaums. The exhibition will also feature a rare screening of Anderson’s 1993 Bottle Rocket 14-minute short film, which went on to be remade as his first feature.
As reported by Time Out London, tickets for the exhibition are priced from £19.69 and are now on sale. The exhibition opens on November 21, 2025, and will run until July 26, 2026. Tim Marlow, Director and CEO of the Design Museum, said: “Wes Anderson has created some of the most visually distinctive and emotionally resonant films of the last two decades — from the melancholic charm of The Royal Tenenbaums to the youthful adventurism of Moonrise Kingdom.”
“He’s an utterly compelling creator of cinematic worlds, whose singular vision and attention to detail are underpinned by an acute understanding of design and craftsmanship, which is why the Design Museum is the perfect location for this landmark retrospective,” Marlow added. The exhibition premiered at la Cinémathèque française in Paris in March this year, and for its time in London, 100 new objects will be added, with more attention directed to the “complex process of Anderson’s world-building design work and the contributions of his trusted collaborators”.
The exhibition will chart Anderson’s journey from the mid-nineties right up to his 2023 short The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. As Time Out London notes, ‘Wes Anderson: The Archives’ is a unique opportunity for fans to get a glimpse into the mind of one of the most innovative filmmakers of our time.
