Tragic Heroism: Man Dies Saving Children at Ingoldmells Beach in Lincolnshire
A heart-wrenching incident unfolded on Sunday, May 25, at Ingoldmells Beach in Lincolnshire, where a 60-year-old man lost his life while attempting to rescue two children in distress. According to The Independent, the man entered the sea at around 4 pm, close to the Promenade in Ingoldmells, after seeing the two children struggling in the water.
In a statement, The Independent reported that Lincolnshire Police said: "A 60-year-old man has sadly died after entering the water to help two children who appeared to be in distress. The man reportedly entered the sea just after 4 pm today (25 May) close to the Promenade in Ingoldmells, he got into difficulty and sadly died at the scene." The police have not released further information about the identity of the man or the two children he was trying to help.
The incident prompted a large-scale emergency response, with multiple services, including police, ambulance, HM Coastguard, RNLI, and two air ambulances, rushing to the scene. The RNLI confirmed that the Skegness lifeboat was launched during the incident. Absolutely so sad to think all involved were just trying to enjoy the bank holiday weekend and now be left traumatised and a family grieving and heartbroken over losing their Brave beloved family member."
