TUI Customer’s Holiday Turns Sour Over Missing Snack

Nightmare Holiday in Corfu: Traveller’s £750 All-Inclusive Trip Turns into Disaster

A holidaymaker from Westerhope has spoken out about her "horrendous" all-inclusive trip to Corfu, which left her feeling bitterly disappointed due to the lack of English food and absence of hotel entertainment. Susan Edwards, 69, embarked on a seven-night getaway to the Greek island on May 12 with her cousins, daughter, and second cousin, but described the holiday as "horrendous from the minute [they] got there."

According to the Bristol Post, Susan’s party had booked the Lido Corfu Sun Hotel through TUI, paying £750 each for the all-inclusive trip. However, upon arrival, they were disappointed to find that the hotel’s cuisine did not cater to their tastes. Susan recalled: "It was all-inclusive, £750 each we paid and there was no food we could eat and we couldn’t have anything to drink. I have to be careful because I have ulcerative colitis so there’s certain things I can’t eat. The all inclusive drinks were wine, lager, ouzo, or brandy. Yes, there were soft drinks, but we had to pay €1.50 for water."

The Bristol Post reported that Susan’s discontent with the hotel’s cuisine escalated upon realising there was "no English food" to be found. She said: "On a morning you could have toast, a hard boiled egg, or something in sauce. There was no bacon. For breakfast there was mozzarella and sliced tomatoes. There was no hot bacon or sausage. We got chips one day. One day out of the whole lot. There was fish, sardines and rice – I was sick to death of looking at rice. There was pasta and salads, none of this was marked (labelled). One night there was a Greek night and they had kebabs, I couldn’t eat that. It’s the worst holiday I’ve ever been on."

Susan also expressed her disappointment with the hotel’s entertainment options, which were advertised as including ping pong, pool, and live music. However, she claimed that there was no entertainment at the hotel, which is "stuck there in the middle of nowhere." She added: "There was a private beach but it was so steep we couldn’t get down to it and it was 150 yards from the hotel."

The Bristol Post stated that Susan was also let down by TUI’s handling of her complaints. She was offered £100 in holiday vouchers, but turned it down, claiming that other guests at the hotel received more compensation for their grievances.

In response to Susan’s complaints, a spokesperson for TUI UK stated: "Our priority is to ensure customers have the best possible holiday experience, so we are sorry to hear that Mrs Edwards felt dissatisfied with her holiday. We have been in touch directly with Mrs Edwards to come to a resolution."

Susan’s experience serves as a warning to travellers booking all-inclusive trips abroad. As reported by the Bristol Post, she has vowed never to book with TUI again, citing her dissatisfaction with how they handled her complaints. The incident highlights the importance of researching holiday providers and reading reviews from multiple sources before making a booking.

In conclusion, Susan’s nightmare holiday in Corfu serves as a cautionary tale for travellers. The Bristol Post has reported on this story, highlighting the importance of being aware of the potential pitfalls of all-inclusive trips and the need for holiday providers to take customer complaints seriously.
