Update: Nationwide to Pay £100 Bonus to Eligible Customers

Nationwide Building Society to Announce 2025 Fairer Share Payment on May 29

Nationwide Building Society has announced that it will be making a decision on its 2025 Fairer Share Payment on May 29, as part of its full year results. The building society distributes its profits through the Nationwide Fairer Share Payment, a cash bonus given to reward its customers.

According to GB News, the group has distributed £100 bonuses to millions of members over the past two years through the scheme. While the exact amount for 2025 remains unconfirmed, Nationwide has expressed its intention to continue the Fairer Share scheme.

In 2024, nearly 4 million members received a share of the profits through the payment. To qualify for the payment, members typically need to hold a qualifying current account, along with either savings or a mortgage with Nationwide.

Eligibility for the payment is usually assessed at the end of March, with members needing to meet the criteria by March 31. GB News reported that according to Money Saving Expert, a website run by Martin Lewis, members should ensure their accounts remain in good standing at this time.

They also recommend actively using accounts in the first three months of the year to improve the chances of qualifying. The specific requirements vary based on the account type. For those with a FlexAccount, FlexBasic, or FlexDirect account, members need to make at least two deposits of £500 or more in two of the first three months of 2025 and make two payments.

Alternatively, making 10 or more payments during this period can also qualify them. FlexPlus account holders only need to pay their account fee to qualify. For FlexOne, FlexGraduate, or FlexStudent account holders, a payment either in or out of the account in March 2025 is required.

Additionally, all members must have at least £100 in savings or owe at least £100 on a Nationwide mortgage in March 2025. The Fairer Share Payment is typically announced in May, with money generally landing in accounts in June.

In 2024, most eligible members received their £100 bonus between June 13 and June 28. A Nationwide spokesman confirmed: “Nationwide’s Board will decide on a Fairer Share payment for 2025 and it will depend on our financial performance.

The decision will be announced as part of our full year results May 29.” GB News reported that Nationwide explains that the Fairer Share Payment is designed to reward customers who choose the building society for their everyday banking, as well as those who hold savings or a mortgage with them.

While the criteria have remained largely the same in previous years, Nationwide has indicated that there is no guarantee the same rules will apply in 2025. The final decision will depend on the building society’s financial performance, which will be revealed with the full year results on May 29.

The building society has a history of providing bonuses to its members. GB News also reported that Nationwide Building Society is handing out a free £100 to its members.

As the decision on the 2025 Fairer Share Payment approaches, Nationwide members will be eagerly awaiting the announcement on May 29 to see if they are eligible for the bonus payment.

The payment is part of Nationwide’s efforts to reward its customers for their loyalty and continued business. With the Fairer Share Payment, Nationwide aims to distribute its profits to its members, providing them with a tangible benefit for choosing the building society for their financial needs.

In related news, building societies and banks in the UK have been under pressure to provide better deals for their customers, with many calling for more transparency and fairness in their services.

In this context, Nationwide’s Fairer Share Payment can be seen as a positive move, demonstrating the building society’s commitment to rewarding its customers and sharing its profits with them.

More information on the eligibility criteria and the payment details will be available after the announcement on May 29.
