Bolton Wanderers Sign Highly-Rated Youngster Charlie Warren
Bolton Wanderers have secured the signing of highly-rated youngster Charlie Warren, according to reports from The Bolton News. The 21-year-old attacker has put pen to paper on an initial two-year deal with the club, with an option for a further 12 months.
Warren had a trial with Bolton’s B Team earlier this year, scoring against Blackburn Rovers in the LFA Senior Cup. His impressive performance caught the eye of the club, and they have now agreed a compensation fee to secure his signature. The youngster scored 34 goals last season as Felixstowe and Walton United finished second in the Isthmian League North Division and clinched the Suffolk Premier Cup.
The Bolton News understands that Warren had been attracting interest from other EFL clubs, but he has opted to join Wanderers. The young attacker has a spell in Ipswich’s Academy as a youngster and is excited to be joining Bolton’s ranks. “I’ve always wanted to be a professional and it’s something I’ve always worked towards,” Warren told The Bolton News.
Warren revealed that he did not let leaving Ipswich at a young age affect him, instead using it as motivation to push himself to become a professional footballer. “I just kept trying to push and I knew that there’d be a way from non-league. I just needed the right opportunities and scoring most weeks also helped put my name out there,” he added. Warren believes that last season was a major turning point in his career, saying, “I did feel like last season I was progressing the most and this could be the one where I get that pro contract. It’s a big achievement for me and I’m proud of it.”
The Bolton News quotes Warren as saying that joining Bolton is a “massive step up” for him, but he feels ready for the challenge. “Bolton is a massive club and it’s a massive step up for me but I feel like I’m ready for the challenge and I’m just excited to go and start,” he said. Warren will now aim to make his mark in pre-season alongside Wanderers’ other young players when the squad returns later this month.
Wanderers’ head coach Steven Schumacher is delighted to have secured Warren’s signature, saying, “We’re delighted to win the race to bring Charlie to the club.” Schumacher praised Warren’s potential, saying, “He’s a young player with clear potential and a good goalscoring instinct. This is an excellent opportunity for him to step up and continue his football education within our environment, and we’re looking forward to working with him and helping him develop.” The Bolton News reports that Warren will now look to work hard in pre-season and hopefully make his way up towards the first team.
Warren’s first taste of men’s football came at Needham Market, and he has spent the past four years at Felixstowe. With his new deal at Bolton, Warren will look to continue his development and make a name for himself in the football world. As The Bolton News notes, Warren’s signing is a major coup for Bolton, and fans will be excited to see him in action in the coming months.
According to The Bolton News, Warren’s move to Bolton is a significant step up in his career, and he will look to make the most of this opportunity. With his impressive goal-scoring record and experience in non-league football, Warren has the potential to make a big impact at Bolton. As the new season approaches, Wanderers fans will be keeping a close eye on Warren’s progress and hoping that he can help the team achieve success.
