Punjab Police Crack Down on Drug Smugglers, Arrest 127 in 87 Days
The war against drugs in Punjab, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has entered its 87th day, with the state police making significant strides in eradicating the menace. According to reports from Yes Punjab News, on Monday, the Punjab Police arrested 127 drug smugglers and recovered 2.2 kg of heroin, 6.6 kg of opium, and Rs 1.31 lakhs in drug money from their possession.

The crackdown was carried out on the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, simultaneously in all 28 police districts of the state. In addition to the arrests and recovery of contraband, the police teams also checked as many as 494 suspicious persons during the day-long operation. As part of the ‘De-addiction’ programme, the Punjab Police has convinced 104 persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.
