Williams Concert: Bath Braces for Chaos and Rain

Bath and North East Somerset Council Urges Concert-Goers to Use Park and Ride Services

As thousands of concert-goers prepare to descend upon Bath city centre this weekend, Bath and North East Somerset Council is urging attendees to take advantage of park and ride services to avoid congested roads. According to the BBC, road closures will be in place at Royal Avenue, Royal Victoria Park, and Marlborough Lane, making it essential for visitors to plan their journey in advance.

The city’s three park and ride services, located at Newbridge, Odd Down, and Lansdown, will be operating extended hours to accommodate the large crowds expected to attend the concerts. As reported by the BBC, these services will run until 23:30 on both Friday and Saturday, providing a convenient and stress-free option for concert-goers. By using the park and ride services, visitors can avoid the hassle of navigating through congested roads and parking in the city centre.

In addition to the park and ride services, Great Western Railway has announced that it will be running regular trains from Bath Spa to Bristol Temple Meads throughout the weekend. The BBC reports that the last service will depart at 23:53 on Friday and 23:51 on Saturday, providing a reliable and efficient way for concert-goers to travel to and from the city.

However, Great Western Railway has warned that there may be disruption to services heading to Cardiff and London Paddington due to track replacement work in South Gloucestershire. The BBC notes that passengers are advised to check their journey plans in advance and allow for extra time to reach their destination.

The road closures and extended park and ride services are in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for concert-goers. As the BBC reports, Bath and North East Somerset Council is working hard to manage the large crowds expected to attend the concerts and to minimise disruption to the city.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Bath and North East Somerset Council said: "We are working closely with Great Western Railway and other partners to ensure that concert-goers have a safe and enjoyable experience in Bath. We urge visitors to take advantage of the park and ride services and to plan their journey in advance to avoid congestion."

The BBC understands that the concerts are expected to draw large crowds to the city, and that the park and ride services and extended train services are in place to accommodate the increased demand. By providing a comprehensive and reliable transport network, Bath and North East Somerset Council and Great Western Railway aim to ensure a successful and enjoyable event for all concert-goers.

For the latest updates on the concerts and transport services in Bath, visitors are advised to check the BBC website for the latest news and information.
