Wings Take Flight Against Lynx Saturday

Dallas Wings to Tip Off 2025 Season Against Minnesota Lynx

The Dallas Wings will open their 2025 campaign at College Park Center, hosting the Minnesota Lynx on Friday, May 16, according to a report from the Wings’ official website. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT, with the game airing nationally on ION and streaming on WNBA League Pass.

As reported by the Wings’ website, the team announced its official 2025 roster on May 15, following the conclusion of preseason action. The Wings split their two preliminary matches, falling to the Las Vegas Aces on the road but dominating with a 119-52 victory over the Toyota Antelopes at home on May 10. This overhaul in the offseason saw significant changes in the front office, coaching staff, and roster, with WNBA veteran leader Curt Miller hired as Executive Vice President and General Manager.

The Wings’ website states that Miller made waves in free agency, adding notable names such as DiJonai Carrington, NaLyssa Smith, Myisha Hines-Allen, and Ty Harris to join Arike Ogunbowale, Teaira McCowan, and Maddy Siegrist, who are all coming off impressive 2024 seasons in Dallas. In addition to returners and offseason pickups, the Wings made a splash at the 2025 WNBA Draft, led by No. 1 overall pick Paige Bueckers of UConn. The impressive draft class also featured No. 12 overall pick Aziaha James of North Carolina State and No. 27 JJ Quinerly of West Virginia.

According to the Wings’ website, several notable storylines surround the matchup between the Wings and Lynx. The Wings will kick off the 2025 regular season hosting the Minnesota Lynx at College Park Center. Dallas concluded its preseason slate with a dominant home victory against the Toyota Antelopes, 119-52. Seven different Wings finished in double figures, with Arike Ogunbowale headlining the group with 17 points and six assists. The last time Minnesota and Dallas met in Arlington, the Wings sent their visitors home with an 18-point loss.

The matchup between the Wings and Lynx will also feature a highly anticipated showdown between two of the top players in the league. As reported by the Wings’ website, the No. 3 and No. 4 all-time leading scorers in UConn program history will compete against each other in Dallas’ Paige Bueckers and Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier. Both are members of the Huskies of Honor program, grouped alongside several program legends. Bueckers makes her WNBA debut fresh off an NCAA Championship run, earning the program’s 12th title. Collier helped lead the program to its 11th crown in 2016, the program’s last title since the nine-year drought that Bueckers broke.

It’s worth noting that Bueckers’ first career outing comes against her hometown team. The guard was born in Edina, Minnesota, and attended Hopkins high school in Minnetonka, Minnesota. As reported by the Wings’ website, the home opener will be played on the first official "Paige Bueckers Day" in Hopkins, as the city announced in April that it would be renamed in honor of her debut.

In terms of team news, the Wings have several players listed on the game status report. Luisa Geiselsöder is out due to an overseas obligation, while Tyasha Harris is probable with a knee injury. The Wings’ website also reports that the team’s new additions span from its draft class and free agency signings to the front office, where several key leadership additions mark a new era in franchise history.

The Wings and Lynx will face off again on May 21 in Minnesota, with the Wings’ next home game scheduled for June 8 against the Lynx. Fans can follow the team on social media or watch the game on ION or WNBA League Pass. Live stats are available on stats.wnba.com.

The Dallas Wings are celebrating their 10th season in North Texas, and the team has advanced to the WNBA Playoffs five of their first nine seasons in Dallas, including reaching the Semifinals in 2023. The team has also expanded its distribution for local broadcasts, tripling its local TV footprint and bringing free, over-the-air Wings games to 6.3 million households across 12 markets during the 2025 season.
