Wordle Analysis: Uncovering The Clues And Answer For Saturday, May 31st

As reported by Forbes, specifically in an article by Erik Kain on May 30th, 2025, the final Wordle of May was solved, and the answer was revealed. According to the article, "This is the end, beautiful friend. The end of May. By some counts, the end of spring. The end of my trip to Scotland. I’m back in the good old US of A and ready to drive on the right side of the road again like a civilized human being. I’m also ready to solve the final Wordle of May and tally the final Competitive Wordle score against the nefarious Wordle Bot. Let’s do it!"

The article, as cited in the source material from Forbes, provided a hint for the Wordle, stating that it was "Easier to form bad ones." A clue was also given, indicating that "This Wordle begins and ends with consonants."

The source article explained that solving the Wordle involved strategy and sometimes luck. As Erik Kain noted, "I was working on this post while traveling. I enjoy working in airports but I’m always a bit more distracted and today I screwed up my second guess. MUSIC left me with 80 words and eliminated the ‘C’ which I promptly used in CRATE for my second guess. So annoying! Still, this cut my possible solutions down to just four and I got lucky when I guessed HABIT for the win. I’ll take a sloppy win!"

The Solution To Today’s Wordle

According to Forbes, specifically Erik Kain’s article, the answer to the Wordle was HABIT. As stated in the article, "The word habit comes from the Latin habitus, meaning ‘condition, appearance, dress,’ which itself is from habere, meaning ‘to have’ or ‘to hold.’ It entered English via Old French habit, initially referring to clothing or attire, and later came to mean a customary practice or behavior."

Competitive Wordle Score: Erik Kain vs. Wordle Bot

The article from Forbes provided an update on the Competitive Wordle score, revealing that Erik Kain had secured a victory over the Wordle Bot. The current tally stands at:
Erik: 24 points
Wordle Bot: 14 points

As Erik Kain explained, "In spite of my screw-up, I still beat the Bot today. I get 1 point for guessing in three and another for beating the Bot. The Bot gets 0 for guessing in four and -1 for losing to me. Once a narrow race, our May tally ends with a pretty resounding victory for your humble narrator."

How To Play Competitive Wordle

For those interested in participating in Competitive Wordle, the rules are as follows:

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day.

By following these guidelines, as reported by Forbes, individuals can participate in Competitive Wordle and track their progress against others.
